Madeira
Madeira is an animation that takes place in the 1930s in Londrina (PR), at the time of the beginning of its urbanization - the trees gave way to houses, buildings and coffee plantations. The film tells about the city's relationship with this process of deforestation, the construction in the middle of the forest, the expansion of the commercialization of wood with the new sawmills through the eyes of children. It shows how the habits and surroundings of the time, filled with nature, the noise of the forest, the clay floors and the childhood of playing, were molding themselves to the imminent changes. The plot has as its source the historical photographic portraits, made by Arminio Kaiser, Haruo Ohara, Luiz Juliani and Oswaldo Leite who contributed relentlessly to the image collection of the time. Although we have historical archives and a large collection of photographs and paintings, we lack moving expressions to portray the history of Londrina. Animation makes it possible to retell this story in a playful way beyond books, moving away from the traditionalities of academic teaching, proposing the apprehension, assimilation and interpretation of content through art.
